Our mask now has 2 valid EU certificates for FFP2 from notified bodies. Once from Universal (notified body 2163) the certificate and once from the Spaniards Aenor (notified body 0099) the certificate.
The mask itself has very good breathing properties. This makes it ideal for seniors who often have shortness of breath. Without neglecting the filtering, of course! Here we are almost at FFP3 in protection.
Basically it's like this: in medical applications there are mostly medical products, but not only - there are also leading products, especially when it comes to protection. Where these standards for medical products are no longer sufficient, personal protective equipment (PPE) is used to protect people, for example from bacteria, viruses and fungi or even toxic dusts. Finally, the categories and methods of PPE (personal protective equipment) apply here.
If the protection of these 3 mask types of the 3-layer well-known mouth and nose protection is no longer safe enough, i.e. in the case of pandemics or simply in the case of direct confrontation in clinical settings or in risk areas with highly contagious diseases, the surgical mask is not sufficient, personal protective equipment is used. This happens in care facilities, in hospitals on the wards, in the operating room and in patient transport when the risk situation has risen above normal. All these areas are supplied by us for these situations and this location. We deliver for the Bundeswehr and their hospital in Berlin, many, many care facilities and hospitals in Germany and also emergency services, including the police in Baden-Württemberg.
FFP2 is a designation that can only be used in the field of personal protective equipment. It's just not a medical term at all, and we can't bend it down to that. Likewise FFP1 or FFP3. FFP2 has a significantly higher protective effect than a sterile, medical surgical mask - both for the wearer of the mask and for people in his vicinity. It encloses the mouth and nose much more clearly than a surgical mask that is still quite airy on the sides and on top.
The Ministry of Health itself therefore ordered KN95 / FFP2 from us at the time - by no means simple mouth and nose protection. Thank God we were paid by us without a reminder and without a complaint from the Ministry.
With these explanations, I hope to have differentiated the necessities in a pandemic or in civil protection from normal, everyday hospital operations with its surgical mask. Both result in either a personal protective equipment product (mask: FFP1, FFP2, FFP3) or in normal times a medical product (mask, 3-layer surgical mask, sterile or non-sterile - depending on the requirement). We all know that in the listed places - and not only there - we have to protect ourselves from unusual, invisible dangers.
